I'm soft
You know I try to be soft But the wrinkles and scars encase my skin And they tell people things That I'd rather not remember There's scars under, inside, out, and over The ones inside are the biggest You know I grew too fast for my own good I can't tell if the scars say I'm not done yet Or if they'll someday fade I've been stretched thin and squished thick Molded and encapsulated Carved and gutted The scales on my skin Show how dry my blood runs But through nothing Do you still think you can see my insides, The gut I have, How hard my heart can pound? Through me, What we have, What you think you can see, Do you still think you can see my insides, The gut I have, Or how hard my hear can pound?
