IM Done
A heart can only bear so much, a soul can only strive, To be the port in someone's storm, yet feel not quite alive. I've walked the path beside you, through your darkest, deepest night, Held you close through every tear, through every hidden fright. I've been the silent anchor, the hand that's always there, Yet in your gaze, I'm shadows, when for him you reserve your stare. I've whispered love in silence, screamed it in the void, But to you, I'm just a whisper, easily ignored. I've felt the sting of second place, a prize you never sought, Despite the oceans I would cross, the battles I have fought. I'm done with being the fallback, the one who catches tears, While you chase after someone else, confirming all my fears. I lay my armor down tonight, my sword beside the flame, I can no longer fight for a heart that never says my name. I wish you happiness with him, may he be what I cannot, For I am but a ghost to you, in your love story's plot. So go with him, my dear, I'll find a path that's new, To mend my heart, to find a love, that sees me through and through. The journey will be long, I know, a road less traveled by, But in the end, I'll find a love, where I don't have to die.
