I'm a mirror
I am a mirror And that's why people like me. I have no face And that's why people like to make me one. They look at me And see themselves. I look different to everyone I meet I look like an honest person to one, I look like a shoulder to cry on to another But they don't know me. I don't know me And no-one ever will. It gives me peace Knowing that I'll never be know. knowing that I can never be judged knowing that I will always live up to what others want of me. I've grown used to it over the years Over the lifetime of lies I've built. The structure of my life is like a broken mirror If someone looks at it from an angle I grow darker. I don't look how they want me to And they hate me for it. And soon I'm left with one less person I can call a 'friend' But in the end I remain unscratched. But in the end I remain broken From the constantly growing weight of lies. From all the years I've spent as someone Who I don't know. I've begun to shatter Every crack seems to grow bigger. And I find myself feeling resentful Of myself for being this way And of others not teaching me how to live. But either way I remain the same Although I walk the streets with wounds I haven't learnt to fix I am a mirror.
