if you could see me
if you could see beneath my scars the stories lingering beneath my skin what would you think of me then?.. if you could see behind my smile if you could read the words trapped in my head would you leave me for someone else instead?.. If instead of laughing I'd let myself cry would you even hesitate to say goodbye. I rehearse the words I say I have every response memorized because I'm scared one day you won't be there to say hi. in my eyes you can't find stary skies or butterflies the window to the soul doesn't work for mine and it breaks me inside. Someone I thought I could trust was the same person to leave me in the dust dead and buried and I blame myself for letting my walls be crushed. And I swear to myself that I would build a shell and hide safe inside in a place they can't find, a place that's actually mine. so if you could see all my flaws and imperfections as clear as you see your own reflection would you bear your claws or lend a hand?..
