If Wishes Were Horses
If wishes were horses, would beggars still wait, Or watch as the wealthy decide their fate? Would saddles be sold to the highest bid, While dreamers are told, “Be quiet, be rid”? Would hope wear chains in a stable unseen, Tamed by the hands that rule the machine? Or would the hoofbeats echo through lies, As beggars stare up with fire in their eyes? But what if no horse ever came through the gate No genie, no wish, no twist of fate? Would they still rise, with nothing but will, And climb without steeds, yet higher still? So let them ride, or let them fly The beggar’s spirit does not die. For even when dreams are kept outside, Some souls were never meant to ride. ©Shalom Lights
