If we weren't meant to be
We often have heard Sunsets are proof Endings can be beautiful Then why do tears fall With every thought of you Is it the regret Of not holding on That pierces your soul And aches your heart As if your world fell apart Or is it the exhaustion Of giving yourself away Until there is nothing left For one to gain Except for nothing yet pain Be it the former or the latter Does it hurt a little less When you let go of the person You once believed Would last forever If we weren't meant to be Why did fate even bother For us to meet When there was someone else Already written in my destiny Now you want me to accept The one who took Every part of me Was not the one I was meant to keep Perhaps some people Are carved into our lives Only to become a lesson Or a wound One carries for life
