If only there weren't snakes
How strange How odd that I learned how to love for one who never loved me. I’ve emptied out my heart I’ve given years of my youth My body is broken and will never recover, But I believe that I am alive And I know the value of my time I cannot put the blood back in my veins I cannot win back the time I have spent I can spend every moment from here on Pouring myself into those who care You may learn the value of time but you certainly have no concept yet I have more important things to pour into I will use my blood and I will use my life with purpose. I cannot hold you with the snakes that tame you I cannot fix you with all that I have to offer. but I pray, one day, that you will feel my love again Although I kneel not beside you – I kneel for you. And I pray that I could hold you one day without your serpents poisoning my body without them tainting my blood That we could love in tenderness Oh I pray – that I may feel your gentle love for the very first time.
