If I Tell You
If I tell you that I'm hurting That's just one small piece of it You may think that I want to be praised That I'm an amazing person to be around And that none of it is my fault at all You're right, I didn't ask to be traumatized But you're wrong, I don't want gratification. You're right, I think I'm a nice person You're wrong, there is a monster lurking beneath the undertow. Eager to pull me under You can tell the sobbing mess that is me That I am a wonderful person. But if I tell you that I'm hurting, That I really hate myself. It's true.
