If I Could
If only I could reach up and snatch the blue sky, just for you. I would pluck every single star and place them in your hands, until counting becomes meaningless. I would lay them at your feet until they outnumbered the grains of sand. I would wrap the sun in a ribbon and tie it to your smile. I would gather every whisper of the wind and wrap them around you like a warm embrace, hoping they could carry away your pain. I would tear open my chest, rip out my beating heart, and offer it to you, still warm and bleeding. But no matter how hard I try, I can't make time stand still, and I can't stop the world from spinning. All I can do is watch as the clouds swallow your light, and I'm left here, grasping at empty skies, wishing I could give you the universe, but all I have are empty hands.
