If God does not ordain
If God does not ordain our love, Then why do angels hush when you speak my name? Why does the moon slip behind clouds When I kiss you beneath it, ashamed? They say our hands were never meant to meet, Yet mine fits yours like a prayer unfinished— Like a sinner mid-confession, Daring to hope in silence. If this is sin, then let me drown in it. Let holy water blister my skin, Let the saints avert their eyes— But do not ask me to forget you. You are a wound I never wish to heal, A shadow I trace even in the sun. And if Heaven builds walls to keep you from me, Then I’ll learn how to climb. If love is not sacred unless it is blessed, Then I’ll bless it with every trembling breath. Even if I die unnamed in the scriptures— Let me live, at least once, in your arms.
