If Ghosts Are Real
If ghosts are real, I hope they stay, To sit with me when skies turn gray. To hum the songs I used to know, In voices soft, from long ago. If ghosts are real, I’d beg them not To ask of wounds that I forgot. They’d see the ash inside my chest, And know I never found my rest. If ghosts are real, perhaps they’d see The hollow space that’s left of me. They’d trace the cracks along my skin, And whisper, love still hides within. If ghosts are real, then maybe you Still linger here when dusk turns blue. I feel you breathing through the air, A warmth that says you’re still somewhere. And if I’m wrong, if none remain, If death has silenced every name, Then I’ll become one, pale and true, And haunt the world to stay with you.
