Icarus: A beautiful fall
Havens hour, i gazed at you. 'The creation of freedom' You called it. Wings made of old feathers and candle wax. 'Ambition' I named them. A warning you told me, father. I wasn't fully listening to you. I remember you told me about the Sun and Sea 'Confidence' and 'Timidity' I called them. We stood on the edge of punishment, hoping free will would take us. One step, one flap, we flew. High we were, looking down over everyone. Gods we were called father, Gods we are father. However, I couldn't stand 'It' being better than me. So I flew higher, and I challenged the sun. Wax melting, feathers moulting, me—falling. Even though I was in pain, I smiled. Even though I was crying,it was tears of joy. As feathers went through my fingers, I knew I mistook Confidence for Arrogance. There is a beauty in falling. A beauty only my eye can behold. I didn't fall in love with the sun. I fell in love with the moment. The moment of falling from the heavens . Freedom was my goal. The Sun, my opponent. Ambition, my weapon. Arrogance, my envy. My fall, my defeat.
