i was your icarus
pretty words, compliments slowly accepted, you built me up brick by brick, made me feel as if i were flying, when you flash me a smile. but i was sinking deeper into you, and the pressure was too great, you chose not to keep me whole, you left me at the bottom of the ocean to drown, the water flooded in, a tsunami knocking my world over, bricks crumbling, as i drown in grief. you said there was nothing bad to talk about, fed me lies so i didn't hold my breath, for once i felt safe to be me. you lied, you lied, you lied about everything. you said my hair blew like an angel's, so i ripped off my wings. you were my sun and you melted the wax, you caused me to fall, not caring who i hurt, all because you wanted to dawn on a new day, where Icarus cannot fall for you.
