I Like You
Sometimes, I look up to the sky and silently pray, wishing that someday, I'll never have to be confused again and that the sentence in my heart I cannot bear to utter will leave. Praying that someday, when I close my eyes, I will not see your face. Hoping that someday, I will not shed a single tear because I feel like a sinner for committing a sin I cannot stop just yet. For I am a woman, a woman who's supposed to love a man, bear children, and be a housewife. But no matter how much I cried myself to sleep, whispering to myself that a man will come into my life and will change me until the end of time, I cannot deny the fact that it's still here, silently asking to be accepted, to be heard, and to be seen. But at what cost? It doesn't matter, for I believe in God and in His words; even if I try to understand what I truly feel, it wouldn't matter, for I have to be a woman as God made me to be. Even if I want to say these words to you, to let it all out so it won't hurt me anymore, I cannot dare to see myself in a situation where every day I feel like a sinner for liking you.
