I Hate Being in Love with You
I hate being in love with you— The way it pulls, the way it aches. How every smile you ever gave Still lingers long after it breaks. I hate the way I can’t forget The sound of your voice in the dark. Or how your laugh still lights a fuse In every fragile, tender spark. I hate that I still wait for texts That never come, but should have been. Or how I check the time and think, “Right now, you'd usually check in.” I hate how love becomes a chain When only one is pulling through. I hate how much I still remain Forever tangled up in you. I hate that “us” still haunts my mind In echoes I can’t chase away. I hate that love won’t let me go— Yet wouldn’t let you stay.
