I had it in Me
I held you close, though my hands were shaking, Smiled for you, even when I was breaking. You saw a calm I had barely kept alive, But I fought for us more than you’ll realize. I watched you laugh like you lit the sky, And I swore I’d stay, though I knew I’d lie, Not to hurt, but to protect what’s true, Sometimes love means leaving too. I wiped your tears when i hid mine in the rain, Took your silence and swallowed the pain, You thought I moved on like I didn’t care, But I still flinch at your name in the air. You were peace in a world that made me roam, But I couldn’t build you a broken home,yk So I walked, not 'cause I loved you less, But because I couldn’t give you my mess. You deserved more than my halfway heart, Not latenight calls or falling apart, If time was kind, I’d come back and stay, But for now, I love you but from far away.
