I choose me
Tonight in this unfamiliar heartbeat I choose to be happy. When my heart seems to be in a million places at once I choose me. I choose my happiness I choose myself Saying new year, new me. New Year Same me Of course there are habits and characters I want to wash away Why do I have to wait for a whole year to change myself I want to do it now No waiting for someone If you don't like the new version of me No apologies but I wasn't looking for your validation. I can't keep being in places that makes me feel uncomfortable I refuse to be with people that will diminish my growth So this poem is a gift for myself.
