When I was 12 I figured the memories would fade Over for years later I realize the memories, don’t fade The flashbacks, Don’t die The nightmares, Still repeat The fear, Doesn’t leave The paranoia, Gets worse No one prepared me the first time Or the second time Or the third time I stayed up with myself Every night After a nightmare Because no one would ever believe me A 12 year old couldn't have gone though that If only they knew the truth The trauma I have to carry For the rest of my life Has become too much So if I lose my fight Just know I tried
