I can Live Now
Sadly, I thought about my quest for the big thing. I realized I had been obsessed with my looks. I was a girl in her late teens; Self absorbed with myself, I wanted it all, the beauty, brains and True love. Nature didn't smile at me, Mother Earth blessed me with a face full of pimples, mood swings and monthlies that could only usher me into womanhood. "I don't deserve this! I thought to myself; I am just a flower in her prime, All the life I envisaged, I got none.. Looking downcast and sullen, I wondered "how do I get home tonight” With a self esteem as low as mine, I could only look on.. and mask my pain, You have a shoulder to bear burdens They drummed into my ears.. A girl first, then a woman A wife, A mother, all these I have to become. I didn't really have a say, but who do I have to blame, Conceived in a world that belonged to Men, I could never dream to be the head. I had to be less, inspite of my potentials and talents. Shed layers of innnonce and await a fate most dreaded, an end I have seen before.. But I could dare to be more! Live above this template, nature said to be my fate, Unclip my wings and learn to fly, Oh fly, Fly high little child, the sky is wide enough to spread my wings
