I Came In Vain
I came with brightness in my heart And a charming smile on my face But I am left with broken these A tattooed hickey on my neck A signed portrait on my cast A stamped curse from the past I came with wisdom in my mind But my wise owl has hooted all All it could and all it could ever Paralysing my words forever Words are now so constructed Fractured words, fractured tales I came with torches in my hands To blow out darkness and the shade To light this creepy mountain cave To burn the bridges back to bleak But all of them were not enough To light and burn the ignorance I came with everything I could The home, the clothes, and the food The tools, the goods, and the notes The words, the flesh, and the bones And the well-known anecdotes I came with all but I came in vain
