I called you
I called you, And it rang and it rang It rang several times With each new ring My heart pounced even faster And finally, it was quiet You didn't pick up my call Every new second, I asked myself Why didn't you pick up my call And in each new minute I wanted to call again In each new hour, I checked my phone Hoping your name would pop up I felt torn apart when a new day dawned Yet again, not a word from you My heart was so broken And in my mind, I only thought of you I knew you didn't want to talk to me But didn't you think of me as much as I did you? I yearned to hear your voice more than I did to breathe But all I could hear were my friends They said you didn't care about me They said you didn't love me They said I deserved better I didn't want better I wanted only you and your imperfections It hurt a lot to know my friends were right
