I am
I am the calm and focus behind the, rubber and the dirt on my knees. I wonder if my change up will dance just right today. I hear the pop of the leather and the catchers steady voice. I see the batter track my every move, they are hoping to intimidate me. I stand there knowing I will hit every, corner and every pitch that will lead us, to victory. I pretend my arm isn't sore, when the count gets full. I feel proud when I see you make the play behind me. I hit the top of my head with my hand, its a mental reset. Now im ready for the next batter. Even when the bases are loaded, or we are down by 3. I try to be the anchor that keeps our, defense steady. I know it's just a game, but it's so much more to me. It's my home, my calm place. It's the wind beneath my wings. I hope to never have to leave again because I let someone else get to me.
