How Empty We Are
How happy we were growing together as kids, mothered and fathered by parents from different tribes, different religions, and different ethnic groups. How happy we were growing together as kids, eating from the same plates, attending the same schools as we wore our matching uniforms, ready to learn. How happy we were growing together as kids, as we visited each other's houses, played our favorite games, and celebrated birthdays, Christmas and Sallah. How divided we are as adults as we choose, religion over humanity, tribalism over friendship, hate over love, killing each other by our words and weapons we now have access to. How divided we are as adults as we forget how we grew up, and the values our parents taught us while under their care. How divided we are as our minds have been poisoned by hate, envy, jealousy, and greed. Only to betray and be betrayed by people we once called friends in our society. How empty we are as the values we were taught are lost and now we have nothing to teach the upcoming generation as we have forgotten how to live for each other.
