Hostage
Home, they say, is a safe space A gentle embrace, no masked face Then what type of netherworld do I live in? Where I have to pretend just to fit in? My ears follow the discussion, quiet, unspoken My mind wanders at the words, unjust and broken "But it's a sin, right?" "I'd never associate with people like that" Ironic, isn't it? You'd love criminals but treat us like rats My eyes slide as you walk by Head held high, way above the sky And immediately, you're surrounded by lights And my face falls in an attempt to hide Your eyes glow, your smile shines While I'm just another listener of your whines Northern star, you stand out everywhere Why would I be an option in your lare? I'm just dead weight, Pulling you down Holding you back From grabbing your crown Home just holds me like an abyss Falling and falling with cries of rage Screaming to pass the pit of imaginary bliss That had always held me hostage From my book "Blood runs Thicker than Water"
