hope
“If you throw a stone into the ocean, it will cause ripples.” They looked at each other. “What do you mean?” Said Fear. “The waves will surely crash over them. There is too much movement in the water. They will die in no time.” Hope smiled and replied, “But that doesn’t mean they weren't there.” “Yes but, who will know they were there? The other people on the beach will never see them, they will be looking to their family members, or at the sunset, or at anything else. Why does my stone matter?” Hope smiled and replied, “You will know it was there.” “But why does it matter that I know it was there? Why does it matter that I threw the stone in the first place? Why does it matter that the stone found its way into my hand? Why not anyone else? Why me?” Hope smiled and replied, “Why not you?” “It could have been anyone else in the world!” Said Fear. “But it was you.” Said Hope. And in Fears silence, another joined them. Love. And Love didn’t say anything. Love just was.
