Home is me
We didn’t start loudly No thunder No warnings. Just two souls leaning into something soft and calling it love. You found me in quiet places, in late replies that turned to long nights, in laughter that stretched longer than it should have. And somehow without asking permission we became us. You said you were scared I said I would stay And I meant it God, I meant it. I stayed through your silence, through the walls you built with shaking hands, through the nights I wiped my tears and still chose you in the morning I didn’t love you halfway. I didn’t love you carefully. I loved you like a promise I had already made to God. We didn’t just talk about forever we lived inside it. Our children had names before they had faces. Our mornings had warmth before they ever came. I saw you in rooms that didn’t exist yet laughing, working, holding me close like I was home. And I believed it. I believed you I gave you things I can never take back not just my body, but my becoming. My trust. My softness. My unguarded, unafraid, all-of-me love. You didn’t have to ask twice. I had already chosen you. But love… love met pressure. And suddenly, we weren’t building anymore we were standing on something that couldn’t hold the weight. Pressure spoke Ego rose Voices outside us echoed louder than the ones within. And just like that you let go No fight to stay No pause to understand No hands reaching back for mine. Just…distance. Cold. Quiet. Final. And I stayed not with you, but with everything we had built in my heart. Still seeing you in doorways you’d never walk through again. Still hearing your voice in rooms that had gone silent. Still loving you like you hadn’t already left. I broke. Not loudly but in pieces no one could see. On bathroom floors In quiet mornings In songs that knew too much. I mourned a future that never got the chance to breathe. But somewhere between the tears and the stillnes I found myself again Not the girl who stayed no matter what, but the woman who knows when love is no longer being held with care. So this is how it ends. Not with ange Not with hate. But with a quiet release of your name from my future, of your place in my plans, of the version of us that only lived in me. I loved you. Fully. Deeply. Truly. And even now I don’t regret it. Because love like mine is never wasted. It just…finds its way home again. And this time?? home is me.
