The sounds of summer are all around me. The distant buzzing of mowers Children laughing, faint music rises and falls. These are the best of times I hope they never end.. Laurene and Murray are playing Kerbie Leone is sitting on the steps, trying not to laugh. Laurene wins again! Dad is trimming the verges. "Snip snip,"go the Shears as his hair swings down 'Johnny Weismuller style ' we joke, the snip snip may find it's way there. "Pass me the hard-headed brush" says Dad. The Roses look wonderful. Soft Pink and Vibrant Yellow, our precious jewels the pride of NO.23. Their gentle scent carries on the breeze,it smells like summer. Lorne is up in his room 'Under a Blood Red Sky 'seeps downstairs, finding forgotten corners stillness and quiet are strangers in this house..In the Sitting Room, Kevin looks up from his paper nods at me,then he's back to the Racing Form. Mum is in the Kitchen on a high stool Cigarette in hand. "Well, Darren James," she says, "Are you alright?" I'm good because I'm home, home again..
