Hollow drum
The sun dips low, a fiery kiss goodbye, The day unfolds, a canvas painted bright, With laughter shared, and reasons to feel high, But shadows lengthen, stealing all the light. The world is hushed, the city's vibrant hum, A distant echo, fading in the breeze, My heart, it aches, a lonely, hollow drum, A symphony of silence, if you please. The moon ascends, a pearl in velvet skies, Her gentle gaze, a comfort I can't find, For in her light, a deeper longing lies, A yearning for a touch, a kindred mind. The day's facade, a mask I wear with grace, Conceals the emptiness that fills the night, A silent plea, etched on my weary face, For someone's hand to hold, and make things right.
