Here's where hope yearns
There are 31 days left before the year decides to leave, and I find myself sitting with thoughts I tried to outrun for months. It’s strange how time flies, how it slips through our fingers even when we’re holding on the tightest. We used to dream of becoming adults, thinking it meant freedom, thinking it meant answers. But here we are— older, yes, but not necessarily wiser. Just a little more lost, a little more confused, a little more tired in places we didn’t know could ache. And yet… we stay. We hope. We try to breathe in days that feel heavier than they should. We whisper soft promises to ourselves that maybe next year will hurt a little less, that the mornings might feel lighter, that we might finally recognize the person looking back at us. Maybe this is what growing up really is, learning how to keep going even when the world feels dim, and still believing, somehow, in the small chance that better days will remember how to find us. -Paul M.
