They told her what she couldn't be they told her what she couldn't do clipped her wings, made her mum They believed she shouldnt even humm disregarding the world she creates needs a man with every step she takes They told her what she couldn't be they told her what she couldn't do her eyes now filled with empty dreams 'someone please help', her mind screams filled with envy and ire... lucky are those whose aims are not on fire Oh, the books she wished to hold, the dreams she wrought, In her silence, freedom from shakles was all she sought. Consumed by a desire to read and get those dreams on, Such a pity she faded before the dawn... They told her what she couldn't be they told her what she couldn't do an ounce of skin ... oh thats haram something akin to shaitan For dishonoring their rules, for seeking a glimpse of light, They tore her apart, broke her in the dead of night. for a glimpse of freedom, they saw, They raped her, maimed her, all in the name of Allah. She cried all night... rolling down her cheeks,the silent tears hoped for miracles to erase her fears begged to angels, heavens and gods Yet her prayers failed to escape those veils shrouding her face She questioned everything in heavens
