The moon is cool, it’s calm, it’s bright, My favorite thing in the middle of the night. I used to look up at that big white sphere, And wish that someone would just appear. Someone who wouldn't look at my flaws, Or judge me for breaking all the laws. Then you came along and you changed the view, I found a different kind of light in you. The moon stays distant, way up high, Just a silent circle in the sky. But you’re right here when I’m feeling low, Helping me learn and helping me grow. You saw the mess and you didn't run, You helped me become a better "one." You’re the best friend that I ever had, Turning my good and even my bad. But when we fight, it’s a heavy weight, A shadow that I absolutely hate. It hurts much more than a cloudy night, To lose the glow of our friendship light. My heart feels heavy, my head feels spinny, Because without your talk, I feel so empty. The silence between us is way too loud, Like the moon got lost behind a dark cloud. So let the stars shine and the moon stay round, But my feet are staying on the ground. Because even though the moon is a beautiful sight, It doesn’t help me win my daily fight.
