Heart's Deliverance
Maybe my heart didn't stop beating from the words you used to stab me with Though they were swift and carefully planned they were not fatal, at your hand And though the air escaped my lungs as I began to scream and weep You never had the power in you to keep me in eternal sleep But it was in those moments of unrelenting pain that I knew that this was the last blow that I would suffer at your hand And as I lie in the darkness broken on the floor My heart, I thought was long dead and gone began to slowly beat once more and as I lie weeping grieving what I thought to be the death of my own heart I realized it wasn't death at all, That it was the delivery and my heart reborn And I rose and took those first steps I finally felt release Maybe it's that moment we take those first steps, walking away-- We finally find our own peace.
