heartless In shadows deep, where light dares not to tread, A girl once vibrant now walks among the dead. Her heart, once tender, bruised by countless lies, Has turned to stone beneath unyielding skies. Used and betrayed, her trust a shattered glass, She learned to guard the wounds of her past. Emotions buried, locked within her chest, Numbness now her shield, a harsh, unwelcome guest. Her laughter lost, replaced by bitter scorn, A soul once gentle now cruelly torn. Mean and heartless, cold as winter’s breath, She cares not for the pain nor for the death. Her friends, in blindness, speak of faith and grace, But she, forsaken, feels no holy place. “Trust in God,” they say, their words like empty air, To her, a void where nothing stirs or cares. She longs for silence, to be left alone, A world of solitude where she can atone For trust misplaced, for every tear that fell, In her own fortress, her own personal hell. Her heart, encased in ice, no longer beats, A cruel defense against the world's defeats. And though she walks in darkness, cold and stark, Her soul’s cry echoes in the empty dark.
