Heartbreak
Here I am sitting under the starry sky, Haunted by those memories, That once filled me with joy. The pain is like a cold winter night, Bitter and endless, Freezing my heart in its might. But I will rise like a phoenix from the ashes, For though the pain is hard to bear, My heart will heal, And I'll be wiser for the lashes. In time, The scar will fade, And the future will shine bright. For a broken heart is not the end, The world we built together, you trampled it mercilessly. A thousand memories, You crushed them so recklessly. The sweet words you uttered, The promises you made, Meant nothing, for they were a blur, Of lies and half-truths that quickly decayed. And yet, I still wish you well, For resentment will do me no good. I'll learn from the pain, And heal, like a Phoenix from the ashes should. For you may have broken me, But I'll rise again, you'll see. ~Constance K Zhakata
