Heart of the Deep
I watch them dance in shallow seas, With borrowed smiles, with fleeting ease, They drift from hand to hand so light, Where passion fades with morning’s light. Yet here I stand, my heart ungloved, To love not just, but to be loved. I’m drawn to kindness, soft and true, Where hearts feel safe to bloom and root. I fall too fast, I feel too strong, For kindness met, I’m swept along. Where others wade, I dive, I sink, Into the depths where others shrink. They tell me love’s a fleeting thing, A passing thrill, a secret fling, But I can’t hold what slips away, My soul craves love that stays and stays. So call me cursed, or call me blessed, For loving more and not the less. I bear this weight, this aching need, For love that’s pure, that’s rare and deep. And though I ache, and though I roam, My heart knows one day it’ll find its home.
