He always comes back
Met him back in fifth grade, Best friends, a bond we made. Feelings grew, but he had her, I stepped back, unsure. On and off, year by year, Close enough, but never near. I left my boy, thought we’d align, Next day… he wasn’t mine. She’s gone now. Here he stands, Same old eyes, same old hands. And I hate that he knows this fact I’ll always love him. He’ll always come back.
