Happiness and The Smog
Happiness and the Smog by Jack A.S. Dunce A world awashed in golden morning sun Where flowers were all in eternal bloom An azure sky with few clouds at a run The air filled with chirps from all shades of plume A bright majestic moon graced the night sky Her pale light bathing the dark night aglow The stars in a rhythmic dance full of spry And the cool night wind at a gentle blow Around such beauty, the heart brimmed with smiles Imagination ran wild at full gallop In awe of wonders in the endless miles A red rose bloomed for even a gray slop But the northeast winds brought smog that lingered Hiding all the sky in thick dark gray cloak Choking out breath, leaving all things withered All fell silent but for the crows's grim croaks The whole world seemed to had stood in stillness A thin layer of sooth left all in gray Gripping the heart with lead hands of sadness Muffling laughter to sobs of dismay The smog stayed; all measures were just failing A change of perspective was of no help; Eyes bleached by sad tears saw in gray scaling Marching on, but not in step -- lost in step © pgmr 01/12/2024
