Hanging My Head In Shame 😥
Not A Poem, Just An Opinion! From a generation guilty of accepting that:- '"Others have their own way of doing things, so not my problem!" Now 7 decades later, I now realise why:- 😭The shock of hearing the daughter of my treasured Indian next door neighbour screaming hysterically on her wedding night. 😭The indignity of a woman queuing for sanitary protection, wrapped in newspaper. 😭The hypocrisy of a menstruating woman told not to handle food, & denied access to her place of worship. 😭The horror of a young girl, on her birthday, being taken, by her mother, to an old hag with dirty fingernails & have her budding femininity brutalised with a rusty razor blade by F.G.M. (Female Genital Mutation) 😭 The disappointment of a woman being denied the right to drive a car, because she is a woman! 😭The shame of a female child being denied an education, where she could have become a doctor or engineer which would have greatly benefitted both her community & country! Because, you guessed it! They weren't born a man!
