Growing up sucks.
A few weeks from now, I will be turning 17. I don’t feel anything—my heart is shattered, and my mind feels hollow. I wish someone could carry me, just this once. I don’t want to be a burden, yet everything feels so heavy to bear right now. Today, I am back to being 9 years old, yearning for love and comfort. But my 16‑year‑old self is hurting, because she knows no one will be there for that 9‑year‑old within me. Surely, it will ache for my 9‑year‑old self. She has been longing for two arms to embrace her— and yet, no one is coming.
