Greed
In this noisy world, they prattle and plead, Chasing desires, forgetting the need. The hungry are left to wander astray, While the wealthy push their wants away. I was taught we’re all the same, But now I live in a world of shame. Distinctions draw the lines so clear, Yet death will bring us all so near. Buried beneath the earth we share, Where no one’s rich, and no one’s bare. But still, the greed holds tight and fast, A bargain struck that cannot last. The poor and rich, they fight, they strive, Forgetting that we’ll all soon die. Humanity, a fading dream, A theory known, but left unseen. So here we stand, lost in the fight, Ignoring what’s just, what’s truly right.
