Grandmother 's Kitchen
Here’s a longer, more detailed version of the poem with 24 lines: Grandmother’s Kitchen I imagine her kitchen, simple and sweet, Where warmth and love together meet. Sunlight filtered through curtains thin, Painting gold on the jars within. Brass pots gleamed on wooden racks, Spices whispered in tidy stacks. Cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric bright, Turned every meal to a feast of delight. The kettle sang its morning song, While chutneys simmered slow and long. A rolling pin glided, steady and neat, As dough grew round beneath her feet. Pickles slept in their jars of glass, Seasons preserved as the years would pass. The air held scents of ginger and clove, A language of care, a message of love. The walls wore marks of curries stirred, Each stain a memory, each sound a word. Her apron fluttered, her bangles rang, As spoons and ladles gently sang. I imagine her smile by the glowing flame, Every dish calling my childhood name. Her kitchen, a temple, humble and kind, Where food and affection were always aligned. And though she rests beyond my sight, Her kitchen glows in my heart each night.
