Goodbye
I will not make a show of it, I will not make a fuss I’ll go out the way that I came in, Silently, return to dust. I should have seen this coming, Then again, I guess I did, I took shelter behind a thousand lies, In my poetry, I hid. Now the fear is sinking in, I’m face to face with death, My nightmare finally came for me, To halt my faltering breath. I should’ve told you sooner, Given you a chance to get away, So I’m sorry, but I’m dying now, I wish that I could stay. This has been a long time coming, But I am tired, winded, weak, From all the time that I spent running, So I return, humbled and meek.
