Gone Fishing
Last night I had the thought If I don’t set my alarm for the morning I won’t wake up at all Maybe I could make it all end Without a peep or cry I could call my only friend Without the worry I may die All my debts and everything that’s missing I won’t have to carry on anymore I’ve gone fishing I won’t steal your seat tomorrow or the days after Nor will I have to listen to your constant laughter Every day I think to myself “I’m tired, I'm tired, I’m tired” I’ll just take my clock off the shelf Get rid of me without being fired I won’t accidentally look you in your eyes Nor will I ever open mine Would you notice Would you listen Would you miss this Or notice how my eyes seem to glisten For now, my love, rest sweetly I love you very much Please let me pass discreetly
