Golden Hearts
People say gold is a precious metal, But gold is also soft, so I don't know why when I was a man, they said I shouldn't be soft And still have a heart of gold. So I ran away, I ran to a lonely road and there it led me to a treasure, Not gems, jewellery, or even the meaning of life, A heart of gold. And that is how I learned the loneliest roads, lead to the golden hearts. So many have theirs of fools gold, And we were always told To keep digging and we'll find it, But they're the ones who did, and all they found was fools gold. We are the ones who say fuck you To the ones who best us down, The ones who said we were nothing, We are the survivors. And we may not all wear our marks with pride, But they are still golden hearts. No matter how quiet or loud, How proud or ashamed, How much we know us, No matter what, we are the ones who ran from the normal. Because we aren't normal. We are beaten, but that makes us beautiful. Some of us got lost on our paths and gave up, And your lives will be remembered. And we will always love you. No matter how broken your heart of gold is.
