Glass lies
She stares at the mirror, quiet and still, Tracing a girl she can't seem to feel. Her eyes full of pain and ache, But all she can ever see is every mistake. Her smile is soft, but she calls it weak, Her voice unheard, too scared to speak. She hides her light behind her skin, And counts each flaw she's buried in. The mirror whispers cruel and cold, "You're not enough, you're getting too old." And though it lies, she still believes, Every new crack in her self esteem. She remembers words they used to throw, "Too loud, too much, too fat, too slow." Now silence grows, where dreams once bloomed, Each reflection, a old tired tomb. But oh, if only she could see The strength within the misery. The way she fights through storms alone, And still comes back, skin cut to bone.
