Giving
Everybody takes without thought Just one thing After the other After the other Piece After piece After peice Tearing them away and never replacing Like I'm a sort of free take-one magazine Instead of a give-one-take-one library And I'm stuck giving Because it's all I know how to do Nobody ever taught me how to keep Anything for myself Words of advice Cleaning up after you Doing things for you Never getting a thank you It can't all be for free I deserve something in return Right? All my life I've been told to give And not expect anything in return But I feel drained And used And discarded Throw me away like I'm a plastic fork A one use razor An empty box that once held wonderful things but is now moldy and soggy and broken I'm tired Of helping Of doing Of giving And my hand being slapped when I reach for the bowl But everyone else gets handful After handful After handful And I try to stop Try to refrain But it's norm now You expect me to So why fight it? I don't want to disappoint After all Everything for others Right?
