Given up
In a room where sunlight fails to tread, Where silence lingers, thoughts unsaid, The walls breathe heavy with hidden sighs, And shadows stretch like weary eyes. Once vibrant colors now dull and grey, Fragments of laughter have drifted away. The mirror reflects a ghostly face, Worn and weary, lost in space. Each morning dawns, a reluctant friend, With a promise of joy that refuses to blend. The coffee cools on the kitchen chair, Like hopes that wither in stagnant air. The world outside spins fast and bright, Yet here I linger, shunning the light. Neon signs flicker, laughter rings clear, A distant echo, too far to hear. I wear a mask crafted with care, A canvas of smiles that hangs in the air. Yet beneath the surface, a tempest swells, A storm of questions, of haunting spells. At night, the demons come out to play, Whispering secrets, leading me astray. They weave their tales of worthlessness, In the quiet depths, I feel their caress. “Why bother fighting? Why even try? You’ve lost your wings; you can’t learn to fly. The world is a puzzle, forever unsolved, And in this dark riddle, you’re simply dissolved.”
