~Girlfriend~
~Girlfriend~ In light there is dark, In perfection lies imperfection, and in a relatively okay relationship stays that one word... I shouldn't let myself be unknowingly pushed to breaking, yet here I sit, silently... as the word is repeated day by day. Though the thought behind the word is sweet enough, it's the meaning that pushes me to want to bash my head repeatedly into a school desk, until I am unable to process the information that is presented to me... Girlfriend, a reminder that I'm seen as a girl no matter what I do, no matter what I say. When I tell them, the air goes awkward and the conversation is quickly changed or we simply don't speak for the while after... What am I to do, aside from to sit silently as it's repeated, by friend and by lover alike. Some understanding is placed to the public, those who don't know, as those who haven't been told. However, for those who have, I hold a ever slightly higher standard, please not a girl, never a girl. I tell myself that maybe they'd forgot, maybe a polite correction would end my struggle, sadly a more realistic outlook says they had simply pushed the information aside, perhaps out of desperation or of their own view of me...
