Gilded Hearts, Shallow Pockets
In the wake of opulence, bitter truths unfold, For gilded hearts, shallow pockets take a toll, No longer shielded by worldly treasures, They face the consequences of their own pleasures. Their souls, once vibrant, now burdened and scarred, By the callous deeds committed from afar, Each step they take, weighed down by remorse, Their hollow hearts yearning for a newfound course. The riches they flaunted, a façade of grandeur, But beneath the surface, a growing despair, For love cannot thrive in a heart filled with greed, And compassion cannot be bought to fulfill every need. As their fortunes wane, their hearts start to crumble, They face the harsh truth, their lives now humble, No longer guided by material desires, They seek redemption, to quell the inner fires. In the depths of their anguish, a chance to restore, To rediscover love, their spirits to adore, For beyond the gilded masks, true beauty remains, In humility's embrace, they may find solace, untamed. So let the riches fade, let the pockets lay bare, For in the absence of excess, there is room for repair, Gilded hearts may break, but they can also mend, With compassion and humility, new love they may tend.
