GIFTS
I come bearing gifts like my ancestors who came before me, I am of them and they of me, a link in a chain that stretches far and free. Their wisdom, courage, and grace, I carry with me on this journey, A legacy that I cherish and a duty that I must not tarry. For the gifts that they gave were not just trinkets and gold, But a way of life, a code of honor that still holds. They taught us to be kind, to be just, to be true, To honor the earth and all its creatures, both old and new. Their spirits still linger, in the mountains, the rivers, and the trees, Guiding us, comforting us, and inspiring us to be all we can be. Their stories are our stories, their triumphs our triumphs too, Their pain and struggles, our pain and struggles, as we push through. And so I come, not just to bring gifts, but to pay homage, To those who came before me, and who set the stage. I come with a heart full of gratitude and a mind full of wonder, For the many gifts that they have left for us to ponder.
